This is the MISERS PAGE
and we award those who are misers
CJ Awards
the views below reflect my personal views (Robert) and not anyone else connected
with this appeal or site.
A miser is a person/company who is reluctant to spend money, sometimes to
the point of forgoing even basic comforts.
The term derives from the Latin miser, meaning "poor" or "wretched,"
comparable to the modern word "miserable".
I/We send polite emails to those people or companies who we deeply feel they can
make a difference to Courtney and this appeal.
like the following:
Hello
sorry for this
uninvited mailing but can i ask you to have a look
at Courtneys website
www.courtneysappeal.co.uk
which has much more info about courtney and is up to date with
what were trying to do in raising funds for her treatment and
well being.
During the next several months we are having some large events
with many
guests who are VIPs in media and sport as well as commerce and
other related
businesses all in aid of raising the much needed funds.
i am asking you if possible to support and or to provide us with
suitable
merchandise or offers that we can auction off to raise the much
needed funds asap.
if possible also to place her posters in your programs/documents
or at the ground/office which is
for awareness of our appeal.
please feel free to call us anytime
either the number on the website 02085938656
for more details.
we look forward to your communication in due course.
regards
Robert

Below is what we receive from them
Whist to some it may seem a cheek to ask for help and support. approaching those
companies who make millions of pounds profit and pay their employees
extortionate amount of money.
what we feel is that they only donate to a "charity cause" as its seems to be good PR but to
actually help "individuals" real life people they steer clear. (could
it be all about tax)
lets face it if it was the bosses family member who was going through anything
like this it would be their priority to fund them and not the "charities" they
fall back on.
notice the get out clause we support "charity" well unlike charity donations
every single penny that's donated to Courtneys appeal goes for her, just what
percentage does the "charity" money get to the real life people who need it.
(not a lot i suspect)
ALL I ASK IS THAT IF YOU DEAL WITH THOSE COMPANIES AND PEOPLE WHY?
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FOOTBALL CLUB: receives THE 1ST EVER
CJ
MISERS AWARD
This was their reply.
Dear Robert,
Thank you for your
email. Unfortunately the ever-increasing demands
being placed upon the club have resulted in us
instigating a policy whereby we work exclusively
with our nominated charities.
We also support a number of local causes wherever
practicable.
Although we are unable to assist further at this
time we fully appreciate the efforts that go into
raising funds and awareness for such a worthy cause
and wish you every success.
Kind regards
Emma
CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB: Receives an CJ MISERS AWARD
This was their reply:
Hi there,
Thank you for your Email regarding assistance to your very
worthy cause.
As you can appreciate we receive many requests each week, and
while we
would like to help as many as we can, we will be unable to help
you on
this occasion.
Chelsea Football Club has a defined charity strategy in place.
This
primarily involves our nominated charity partner, CLIC Sargent,
through
which we do most of our charity work and to whom we commit the
majority
of club resources, such as appearances by the players and
management.
We do also assist other charities with requests for signed
merchandise,
and occasionally small donations. Unfortunately these resources
are
limited and have been allocated for the time being.
We would however like to take this opportunity to wish you every
success
with your fundraising efforts and thank you for taking the time
to write
to us.
Kind regards

I though help a London child was just that to help a
London child, its a shame they couldn't help more but the mail received
below didn't merit a misers award as it clearly shows that Courtneys appeal
isn't what they support.
Hello Robert,
Thanks very
much for your e-mail enquiring about Capital 95.8's Help a London Child (HALC).
Here at HALC, we
raise money throughout the year, and then encourage charities and
voluntary organisations working with less advantaged children and young people,
aged 18 and under, in Capital 95.8’s transmission area (Greater London and
within the M25) to apply for project-based
funding. An Allocations Panel then assesses the grant applications we
receive, thus, we are not permitted to give donations, or sponsor individuals or
projects, and we unfortunately don't have any items we can donate.
In 2007, 477 groups received a grant and the
average award was £1,803. Our most common funding requests are for
sessional coaches/tutors/playworkers for on-going or holiday scheme
projects, followed by venue hire and equipment used by children and
young people. As always, we
encourage groups to contact us before submitting an application to Help
a London Child for an on-going, new or
one-off project.
Once again, we're sorry we don't have items
we can donate to your appeal to raise money for Courtney's treatment, but we
wish you every success in striving to raise funds.
With best wishes,
Rich Horsnell

MCLaren gets
a well deserved CJ MISERS AWARD
Dear Karen
Thank you for your recent email enquiring into the possibility of receiving
support from McLaren.
We are contacted by so many worthy causes requesting donations it is always
so difficult to decipher who to support and who we have to turn down.
Please understand that by no means are we not in favour of your good works,
but as a policy, McLaren, has a number of specific charities that we tend to
focus on and as much as we would like it to be otherwise, unfortunately it
just isn’t possible for us to help all those we hear about and regrettably
we will have to decline this request.
We are always particularly interested in children and baby charities and do
actively support GOSH and Tommy’s, the Baby Charity, throughout the year
directly.
I also am sure you are aware that Lewis Hamilton has visited several times
to Great Ormond Street and if Courtney is a fan, I do hope that she has
managed to see him on those occasions.
I would like to wish you every success with your fundraising.
Best regards
Katie Thompson

WEST HAM
UNITED gets
a well deserved CJ MISERS AWARD
or do they?
This is a weird one eh! we've
had 2 events for courtney where we have had some West Ham shirts and footballs
that were signed and was donated to those who organised the event, FANTASTIC EH!
Now when i officially asked West Ham United for a donation for Courtneys Appeal
directly we received the following.
The thing is should they get a Misers award or not?
Dear Sir
Thank you for your email.
As we are sure you can appreciate we receive many requests from various
fundraising organisations and individuals requesting donations. Unfortunately,
we are unable to assist with every request received.
Please, therefore, accept our
apologies, as we are unable to help at this time.
This is no reflection on your particular chosen cause, which we know is
extremely worthwhile.
May we take this opportunity of wishing you every success with your fund raising
efforts and are sorry that we cannot be of any assistance on this occasion.
Kind regards
